November's Unsung Hero
Exposed
Withstanding wind, rain and frost
Exposed branches clamor not for attention
They fortify their strength
Brave winter's wrath
And prepare for the bounty that buds spring

Early this morning the low streaming sunlight beckoned me out back with my camera. Autumn still adorns our yard, now with thinning reds, yellows and oranges. More leaves rest on the grass than cover the branches. Though more muted, those leaves bring joy in their aging state, especially when graced with special light. I love the gentler surprises of late autumn.
Bare branches often protrude through the trees of colorful feast, resting from their harvest, nurturing for future growth, preparing to serve the world once again.
This one made me smile.
I wonder: Is it the branch or is it the sunlight that warms my heart?
There is no need to choose.
