March 10, 2020 I feel asleep on the sofa before making it outdoors to create my planned daily image. Luckily, I grabbed this screen shot on my phone which serves as my honest image of the day. 

Because of the coronavirus, Italy just extended its closings to the entire country. Some of my friends celebrated Purim yesterday (on the 10th). Ireland announced cancellations of all St. Patrick's Day celebrations. From what I've seen and have heard, the celebrations in my town are even more passionate.  Boston has cancelled its parades and  celebrations. Rumor bets that Marshfield will as well. College classes across the state are being cancelled. Life as we know it is about to change. There are 92 presumptive COVID-19 cases reported in Massachusetts. We need more testing to be made available. 

The photo I wanted to make late last night I also had made decades ago after purchasing my first film Nikon SLR:  flowers and weeds growing out of the sidewalk cracks. It tells an obvious story of growth and beauty amid tumultuous times. Those plants exemplify contrast, fortitude, and the miracle and fulfillment of life even in the darkest of circumstances. We don't know what we are about to face in the United States and in the rest of the world but we will need resilience and perseverance to keep our sights on the light of life. 

But I didn't get that shot yesterday. I fell a sleep. I should cheat and dig out an old photograph but I'd only be cheating myself.

Today instead I searched for yesterday's images in my RAW files and in my phone's screen shots.

When this meme appeared in social media it struck a chord with me. It probably does with you, too. We need faster action in order to de-escalate the brutal strength and wide reach of this novel coronavirus.

Whether it's COVID-19 or something else important in your life:  Be about it. Just like the flowers through the sidewalk cracks we are granted opportunities for rebirth and renewal. Take them.
